A Graduate of the Taj Hotel School (Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad), Rudra started his career as a Management Trainee with the Taj Group of Hotels in 1996. After training and operational assignments at Taj hotels in Calcutta, Bangalore, Bombay and Goa, he spent two years as a Faculty member at his alma mater. Rudra was instrumental in redesigning the curriculum and practical training contents and methods during his tenure at IIHM Aurangabad. The Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has certified Rudra as an instructor.
Subsequently in 2001, Rudra completed his Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University at Providence, Rhode Island in USA.
Rudra then worked with Marriott for 4 years. At Marriott, he handled assignments in Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Front Office and Hotel Operations. He was instrumental in designing and implementing the PM Manager On Duty position at Park Ridge Marriott. He also represented Park Ridge Marriott at the regional diversity council of Marriott International Inc.
In 2005, Rudra joined Hyatt Hotels as the Front Office Manager at Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax, Virginia. He then moved to Park Hyatt Washington in 2006.
In 2008, Rudra came back to India to join Alchemist Hotels & Resorts where he looks after new hotel openings and hotel operations. In this role, he was involved with the development of hotel and restaurant projects. He was responsible for hotel properties in Kufri, Phoenix, Gurnee (Chicago) and a portfolio of seven restaurants in Delhi and Chandigarh.
Since 2014, Rudra has been working with The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy helping develop Ayurvedic Resorts / Treatment Centers from concept to operations.
